Close-up of a larva. The larva is fed by the bees. Its appetite is such that within six days the larva has completed its growth. At the end of these 6 days, its weight is 500 times that of the egg. Then comes a resting stage when the wax-producing bees close its cell with a wax cap.<br />
Gros plan d’une larve. La larve est nourrie par les abeilles. Son appétit est tel qu’en six jours la larve a parfait sa croissance. Au bout de ces 6 jours, son poids est 500 fois celui de l’œuf. Vient alors une phase apparente de repos ou les abeilles cirière ferme sa cellule par un opercule de cire.
