Then Mari is filling the tin jar with honey held at arms length, using a second pole to cut the honeycomb off the cliff. The harvest is a battle against millions of bees buzzing furiously and attacking in waves the bare skin of the guru, who repeals attack after attack with only the smoke from his makeshift smoker. This struggle involves fear and intimidation. The smell of bee venom fills the air and the persistent loud buzz is designed to shock the warm-blooded enemy.
