Larvae and future bees develop on a brood-comb where eggs have been laid. In the center, nursing bees keep a constant temperature by contracting their chest muscles to raise their body temperature. The central brooding nest is surrounded by orange pollens filled cells. The colony needs 30 to 40 kilograms of pollen to rear the brood.
